Designing an MVP without painting yourself into a corner

How to create a focused first release that still leaves room for future growth.

An MVP should feel coherent, not temporary. The design needs enough structure to support future iterations while staying lean enough to ship.

That usually means building a small number of reusable patterns early: navigation, content cards, input states, and a clear hierarchy for primary actions. Once these are decided, the app can scale without every new screen becoming a special case.

The goal is to make the first release easy to understand and easy to extend. That is where a design system starts to pay off.
